LIFT THE LID

WHAT A LABOR OF ABSOLUTE LOVE!

Videos & photos below!

When my partner, Garren Fitzpatrick, and I saw the lineup for Unison Festival, we decided to go for it if we could find a way to be involved…
I applied to take on my first art installation of my own design & wheels were spinning as I hadn’t built it yet... It was a dream project I had in my mind for about 4 years prior. I had been collecting BABY WIPE LIDS from seasons of festivals in an attempt to repurpose them and keep some functional trash from the landfills ~ recreating into art instead. Each lid holding a different world underneath…
“LIFT THE LIFT” (working title) made its debut at Unison ~~
uniting my many mediums into one Curio Cabinet.
A mystery box filled with lil worlds under every lid!! The design is foldable, packable, & can be expanded on / dialed over time as I plan to keep bringing this project to many more dancefloors!
I’ll eventually dive more into the arduous building process… (easily over 100 hours) but for now I’m relishing in what we pulled off between the 2 of us + a lil help on push days from 2 rockstar friends while maintaining 3 jobs…
This hands down would not come to fruition on such a short timeframe without the partnership of Garren Fitzpatrick ! His loving support, investment of time and expenses, badass packable design that met literally all my needs, construction experience, & mindfully meeting me in my panics and my elations with grace. We’re so proud of what we built, & this is just the pilot flight!!! Thank you so much Unison for entrusting us with bringing this installation from Boise to bless/ be blessed by the dancefloor and its inhabitants.
We set up beneath an olive tree on the beach by mainstage, and watched it transform into a homebase for enriching connection + expansion. Excited to build upon this concept and continue activating curiosity in the community around me.

Watching so many different variations of people finding joy in interacting with this art piece was life giving!
